SRIVARAN KUMARANAYAGAM LODGE NO. 9793 E.C.
Year of Warrant - 2005
Meets at the Victoria Masonic Temple, Galle Face, Colombo 03, Sri Lanka, on the 1st Tuesday in the Month of February, May, August, October, and December with the Installation Meeting in June.
Taking into consideration the stability and order brought to the District Grand Lodge of Sri Lanka by RW.Bro. Srivaran Kumaranaygam, during his tenure as District Grand Master, it was recommended by the Board of General Purposes that an application should be made to the United Grand Lodge of England for a Warrant to hold a new Lodge of Installed Masters in Sri Lanka and to name it “The Srivaran Kumaranayagam Lodge of Installed Masters”.
The United Grand Lodge of England initially notified the District Board of General Purposes that a Warrant could not be issued for a Lodge named after a person during their lifetime. However, through the perseverance of W.Bros. Dr. Milroy Perera and Ferhad Nilgiria, Srivaran Kumaranayagam Lodge No. 7784 EC received its Warrant on 8th September 2004 and was duly consecrated as the 10th Lodge under the District Grand Lodge of Sri Lanka on 6th May 2005. R.W.Bro. Srivaran Kumaranayagam had the distinct honour of presiding at it consecration.
The concept of an Installed Masters Lodge is a relatively modern innovation within the context of Masonic history. Its popular spread is traceable only to the end of the last century.
In principle, as a Lodge of Installed Masters, Srivaran Kumaranayagam Lodge does not carry out any ceremonies outside of the Installation of the new Master each year. The Lodge complements the activities of existing Lodges by extending an interest in Freemasonry beyond mere ritual work and are often considered to be the jewel in the crown of the craft.
